Your cohort is the group of students who are starting the L&I program at the same time as you. You'll embark together on a life-changing journey, learn from one another, and continue to support each other long after graduation.

In your first and second years of the program, you may have many overlapping classes together. As you enter your dissertation-writing phase, however, you may see less of your cohort in person. This is why it's important to set up a solid communication channel with one another from the very beginning.

Keeping in Touch

Teaching Weekends are usually every two weeks, but you'll likely want to stay in touch as a cohort in between those classes. It's recommended to join the dedicated communications avenue so you always have a place to check in, ask questions, and share ideas with one another.

Join the L&I Student Slack and stay in touch with your classmates! This is a space for L&I students to connect within and across cohorts and classes — about all things academic, professional, and social. The L&I Doctoral Student Association will also post announcements in this Slack channel.
